Job Description Job Description Senior Accountant / Controller (100% Remote | Utah-Based Candidates Only) This is not a corporate accounting job where you close the books behind a wall. This is a high-visibility, hands-on role inside a growing online education company — recently expanded through acquisition — and backed by a thoughtful, people-first private equity partner. We're looking for a capable and experienced Senior Accountant ready to own day-to-day accounting operations across two entities. You'll report directly to the Head of Finance, manage a small team (AP/AR offshore accountant), and play a key role in integrating and streamlining post-acquisition financials. This is a 100% remote opportunity , with strong preference for candidates based in Salt Lake or Utah County to allow for in-person collaboration when needed. What You’ll Own: Full-cycle accounting for both the legacy education platform and a newly acquired exam prep business Oversight of month-end close , general ledger, accruals, and financial reporting Integration of the acquired business into a unified accounting structure Deferred revenue and subscription revenue recognition Management of AP/AR and offshore support Process improvement, cleanup, and internal controls Direct communication with private equity partners on financial performance What You Need: 3–5 years of accounting experience (industry or a mix of public/private) Strong grasp of GAAP , full-cycle accounting, and deferred revenue Confidence in owning the close process independently CPA license preferred (or working toward it) Experience in multi-entity environments or post-acquisition accounting is a strong plus Hands-on experience with QuickBooks and remote team coordination Currently living in Utah Why This Role Matters: The company recently doubled its revenue through a strategic acquisition. You're stepping into a business with traction, growth, and visibility — but that needs a true operator to bring structure and control to accounting. The Head of Finance is spread across growth initiatives and PE reporting. You’ll become the internal leader making sure the numbers are tight, the process is scalable, and the team is supported.
