Saratoga Springs currently has an opening for Maintenance II –
Water technicians; this is full time position with the Saratoga
Springs Public Works Department of approximately 40 hours per week.
This employee is responsible for assisting in the ongoing operation
and maintenance of culinary water, and secondary water throughout
the City. This employee also functions as one of the City's
principal "on-call" employees for after-hours emergencies related
to area of responsibility and snow plowing. The Public Works
Department will try to provide the successful applicant with
opportunities to grow and progress within the department. Works
under the specific direction of the Maintenance Supervisor – Water
and the Assistant Public Works Director, and the general directions
of Public Work Director. All employees are also under the general
supervision of the City Manager. Job Responsibilities Perform daily
site inspections of culinary and secondary water facilities to
ensure adequate water levels and function. Repair and coordination
of repairs to water facilities as needed. Installation and
maintenance of water meters. Water meter reading on a monthly
basis. Communication with the public (developers, contractors or
property owners) as needed on location of public utilities. Snow
plowing of public streets as needed. General maintenance duties of
public facilities as assigned. Utility locating. Performs other
duties as assigned Qualifications Education & Experience: A High
School Diploma or GED equivalent. Two (2) years of experience
working with public water facilities; or an equivalent combination
of job-related education and experience. Special Qualifications &
Certifications: Must possess a valid Utah CDL class A Driver's
License, with a Tanker endorsement or be able to obtain one within
6 months Water Operator II and Backflow Technician certifications.
OSHA Confined Space Certification. OSHA Trench Safety Training.
First Aid and CPR Certification. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Water systems and their functions, operations and routine
maintenance needs. Basic computer operations and applications.
Correct use of English language and vocabulary. Interact with the
public in emotional situations while maintaining professional and
polite demeanor. Operate moderate to heavy equipment that is needed
to perform maintenance duties. Review and interpret basic to
moderately difficult building and construction plans for public
utility systems. Communicate in a concise and effective manner.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with
developers, contractors, citizens, coworkers, and supervisors.
Exercise sound and good judgment at all times, but especially in
emergency situations. Deal with the public in a pleasant,
courteous, and calm manner. Working Conditions The physical demands

and/or carry up to 80 pounds. The noise level in the work
environment is usually moderately quiet while in the office and
moderately loud when in the field. Work may periodically require
the employee to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or
crawl. The employee will be working with sewer effluent and will be
required to receive hepatitis shots. The employee may be required
to work in outside weather conditions, in wet and/or humid
conditions, in high, precarious places, near moving mechanical
parts, near fumes, airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic
chemicals, or near risk of electrical shock and/or vibration.
Compensation and Benefits Wage Range: Full wage range is as
follows, please note hiring will normally occur at the minimum of
the range and will not exceed the midpoint. Minimum - $22.37/hr.,
Midpoint - $26.84/hr., Maximum - $31.32/hr. Benefits: The City
offers a competitive benefits package including several health
insurance options (one of which has a $0.00 employee premium
payroll deduction with Wellness program participation), dental
insurance, life and long-term disability insurance, an EAP
(including mental health short-term counseling services) for the

savings account) with an Employer match. The City also offers the
employee the option to elect to add on Vision, Accident, Hospital,
Critical Illness, additional Life Insurance coverage, and FSAs
(flexible spending accounts). The City participates in the Utah
Public Retirement System (pension). In addition, the City does not
participate in Social Security so no Social Security taxes are
deducted from your paycheck. In lieu of the City's Social Security
contributions, the City contributes 6.2% of salary into a 401(k)
retirement plan. Leave time benefits include 120 hours of paid time
off (PTO) accrued annually, 40 hours of short-term medical accrued
annually, and 11 holidays annually. Schedule Monday - Thursday: 7
