Location: Sandy, Utah around 7400 South and 1300 East
Schedule: The clinic is open Monday - Friday: 7 am to 7 pm. We are
looking for FULL TIME and are open to 3/12 hr shifts, 4/10 hour
shifts, or 5/8hr shits. No weekends unless you want extra

medical providers with a full-service 6-room medical clinic in
Sandy, Utah. Our Mission is to be the best Diabetes and Endocrine

We seek a Medical Assistant (MA) certification is nice, but not
required to function in the dual roles of medical assistant and
medical scribe. MA certification is preferred for this position
(RMA, NCMA, CCMA, etc.); however, non-certified individuals with
unique training, skills, and experience as an MA or related care
provider will be considered.
Diabetes & Endocrine Treatment Specialists provide personalized
care and plans for Type 1, Type 2, Pre-Diabetes, Gestational
Diabetes, and Thyroid and Endocrinology patients tailored to each
patient's medical needs schedules. Consider us a One-Stop Clinic
for all Diabetes or Endocrine care, education, and supplies. We
absolutely know our clinical staff plays a major role in allowing
them to achieve our goals.

We are looking for a Medical Assistant/Scribe whose values and
mission align with theirs. At Diabetes & Endocrine Treatment
Specialists , exceptional care is everyone's responsibility. Your
skills as a medical assistant/scribe include bringing a pleasant
personality, a customer service-focused attitude, and a genuine
desire to help the community. MA candidates currently training
part-time in or planning to start in programs for Pre-med, PA, RN,
LPN, or public health are encouraged to apply; based on your
experience and current career trajectory, tuition support may be
provided. Our physicians and NPs are friendly, engaging, and love
to teach, and if you are hungry for knowledge, there will be plenty
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Excellent patient service skills, ability to communicate
courteously and effectively with patients.
Dependable, on-time, flexible, and multi-task oriented.
Typing/keyboarding skills, at least 40 wpm.
Good listening skills for scribe-related responsibilities and
Effectively assess your own understanding and seek clarification
when needed (we encourage you always to ask questions).
Read, communicate, and write well in English.
Good knowledge of medical terminology and spelling.
Familiarity with electronic medical records (the specific platform
does not matter- we use Elation).
Basic arithmetic, computer, and analytical skills.
Enjoy working with people, being a team player, helping co-workers,
and others with tasks.
Communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing, with
physicians, nurse practitioners, clinic staff, and patients.
Self-motivated, eager to learn, and demonstrate an interest in
Diabetes and Endocrine Care.
Additional languages are helpful. If you are fluent in Spanish,
they would really appreciate that added skill, and if you can
provide telephone and other communication services, you will
receive additional compensation.
Essential Functions And Duties
Room patients, perform vital signs, complete a standard review of
systems, complete detailed and accurate medication reconciliation,
annotate medical problems and new complaints, enter all information
in the electronic medical record, and verbally brief the physician
or NP before they engage the patient.
Record all demographic information necessary to contact
Complete, submit, and track prior authorizations and certificates
of medical necessity (COMNs) for medications, equipment, and
Field phone calls from pharmacies and clarify patient
prescriptions, getting input from physician or NP as needed.
Draft letters of medical necessity (LMNs) on behalf of physicians
and nurse practitioners (templates will be provided to you).
For all diabetes patients: review and annotate a basic checklist of
regular care items, some of which should occur annually (eye exam,
foot exam, cholesterol test, urine test, and immunizations), and
perform standard diabetes foot exams (you will be trained for
For some thyroid patients: set-up for ultrasound-guided fine-needle
aspiration biopsy procedures, including entering patient
information into ultrasound machine, label sample slides, set out
equipment for procedure, record ultrasound results in EMR, and
directly assist the physician with biopsy procedures (you will be
trained for this)
Check patient understanding of care plans and medication changes,
clarify as needed.
Schedule patients for follow-up visits using electronic medical
Answer phones, schedule appointments, and greet patients at the
front desk or exam rooms for medical or other services (such as
Diabetes Education classes).
Place referrals to other physicians or medical service providers
and assist patients with contacting them.
Monitor throughout the day the medication refill and test results
hotlines, where patients will regularly leave voicemail requests;
then message physicians, NPs, or other staff as needed; and then
act on requests by physicians, NPs, or other staff to respond to
the patient via phone, messaging or text.
Propose new orders to the physician and NPs for signature.
Screen and triage other patient communications received routinely
throughout the day via direct phone calls, text, or emails (via our
electronic medical record phone and computer application)

Education And Experience
High School Graduate or G.E.D. Equivalent.
Medical Assistant Certification preferred (see description of
1-2 years of Medical Assistant experience preferred.
1-year Medical practice office experience preferred.
The following will be considered beneficial in evaluating
applicants: Fluency in spoken Spanish language. Prior experience as
an MA/Scribe and/or patient service representative (PSR). Past
Experience with a Diabetes or Endocrine clinic.
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions
Standing and walking for extended periods, lifting to 25lbs.
Repetitive motion associated with operating a computer and other
