Job Description Job Description Wage: $12-$15/hour Part-time,
non-benefitted, non-exempt GENERAL PURPOSE The Head Swim Team Coach
serves at the pleasure of the Assistant Aquatics Manager and the
Aquatics Manager. This position is responsible for the coaching of
youth participating in our summer swim team program and overseeing
the entire swim team, including coaches. This position is also
responsible for the safety of members on the team. Head Swim Team
Coach enforces policies and rules pertaining to water safety. They
are also to be examples of rule-obeying patrons when not on duty.
Weekly hours are part-time, seasonal (mid-April to mid-August), not
to exceed 29 hours per week. Weekly hours may vary depending on
department needs and programming. FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES Duties can
include any of the following: Head Swim Team Coach oversees water
activities, enforcing rules and policies as needed to ensure patron
safety. Instructs youth participants according to the swim team
program as taught at Pleasant Grove Veterans Memorial Pool. Head
Swim Team Coach oversees Swim Team Coaches Interacts and
communicates with parents regarding swim team questions Works in
tandem with the volunteers of the swim team to ensure a quality
program Assists in preparation for special activities and events.
Assists in rescue procedures as directed and fulfills the role in
the Emergency Action Plan Assist in basic clean-up and overall
facility appearance as needed MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Applicants must have
graduated from High School. SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to make
sound decisions in a stressful aquatic environment. Some medium
lifting is involved. Ability to work in adverse weather conditions
Moderate physical activity. Requires standing and/or walking for
more than 4 hours/day. Work environment involves some exposure to
hazards or physical risks, which requires following basic safety
precautions and procedures. Good communication skills, both oral
and in writing. Good public relations and customer service skills
under sometimes stressful situations Ability to understand written
and spoken instructions Ability to lift 15 to 50 pounds EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED Prior experience coaching a plus, but not required
Swimming experience, preferably in a swim team environment
CONDITIONS This position is expected to instruct and supervise all
participants for whom they are assigned. May be required to work in
adverse weather conditions. They will be expected to lift, carry,
and manage equipment. They may have to work odd or long hours at a
time to complete special requests or projects and participate in or
coordinate evening and off-hour activities. Hours may include
weekends and some holidays. Hours may vary as the season and
activities dictate. This position may also, at times, participate
in and lead strenuous physical activities. Note that most PGVMP
