Team And The Role At eBay, maintaining buyer and seller trust in
our marketplace—while ensuring full compliance with applicable laws
and regulations—is a top priority! If prohibited or non-compliant
items are listed, it compromises customer trust and exposes eBay
and our customers to legal and reputational risk. eBay is employing
advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, to
strengthen policy enforcement by identifying and removing unsafe
items and other regulated items. The Policy Manager will support
these efforts by administering policies, developing strategies and
coordinating the program’s execution towards shared goals. You will
work globally, partnering closely with the Regulatory Legal teams
to handle risks and with business partners to build positive impact
to business metrics and operate within budgets. Closely working
with product management and engineering, along with policy
operations to implement new solutions, and to optimize existing
solutions. You will evaluate in-house and third-party solutions,
including the development and interpretation of control plans. You
will engage with eBay buyers and sellers via research initiatives
and one-on-one interactions. What You Will Accomplish Policy
compliance Maintain eBay’s Prohibited and Restricted Items Policies
based on the dynamic and often complex global regulatory
environment. Balance supporting eBay’s growth and focus categories
while maintaining a compliant marketplace Partner with operational
teams to ensure timely takedowns and enforcement actions in
accordance with legal and platform requirements Cross-Functional
Collaboration Partner with global Regulatory and Legal
organizations on evolving trends and issues Work with Product and
Engineering to build scalable enforcement tools and workflows
Support governance and oversight processes that ensure policies are
measurable, auditable, and operationalized globally. Deliver
policies that are machine-readable and interpretable for modern
detection systems, including models powered by artificial
intelligence. Seller Support Educate sellers about our policies to
keep creators and eBay safe Draft policies that are clear and
simple for sellers to understand and self-remediate Understand
customer needs, motivations and wants to make business decisions
that consider the overall end to end customer experience and
sellers’ business models Measurement & Insights Analyze trends,
metrics, and enforcement outcomes to advise on strategy and
improvements Translate sophisticated data insights into clear,
actionable recommendations for partners at all levels Prepare
reporting for leadership on risk, enforcement efficiency, and
compliance health Clearly define and communicate business and
policy requirements, including data visibility and reporting needs
to support effective oversight and risk management. What You Will
Bring 7 years of experience in intellectual property compliance,
trust & safety, or platform governance Outstanding communication
skills – oral and written, including ability to deliver compelling
presentations to internal and external groups Seven or more years
of proven experience, preferably in ecommerce, in the areas of
policy, program management and/or strategy development Familiarity
with AI tools and an AI-first approach, with a demonstrated ability
to harness technology to improve insight, execution, and
decision-making. Analytic and strategy development skills including
expert Excel (pivot tables, advance functions, statistics) and
PowerPoint skills; Outstanding skills in SQL coding and database
query (e.g., SQL) and understanding of data warehouse architecture
are required Familiarity with the live commerce landscape and
functional understanding of the eBay marketplace A willingness to
challenge existing approaches and ability to drive positive culture
changes Practiced at solutions compose with an ability to think
holistically about the impact that any changes will have on both
eBay’s buyers and sellers Ability to evangelize ideas, influence
key partners and collaborate effectively, with experience leading
cross-functional teams Ability to build credibility with partners
Outstanding personal initiative, a “can-do” spirit The highest
degree of personal integrity Education: BS/BA degree in related
field required; Masters or MBA degree preferred Degrees in business
or analytics preferred Work experience in consulting, strategy
development, or analytics preferred Additional Details The base pay
range for this position is expected in the range below: $86,800 -
$150,100 Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple
individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience.
The total compensation package for this position may also include
other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units
(as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial,
and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various
paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of
participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an
employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employees will
be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to
modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or
compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to
