Job Description: Job Title: Speech-Language Pathologist Specialist Department: Special Education Supervisor: Director of Special Education Lane Placement: Licensed Salary Schedule 242 Schedule: 8 hrs. / 242 days Eval Group: CTESS Ed. Specialist FLSA Classification: Exempt Position will begin on July 1st, 2021 JOB DESCRIPTION The Speech-Language Pathologist Specialist assists administration and Speech Language Pathologists to ensure the development, implementation, program evaluation, and services for identified students ages 3-22. The Speech-Language Pathologist Specialist is responsible for supervising, coordinating and providing direct and indirect program support to administration and student service personnel to include; speech-language pathologists, hearing impaired specialists, visual impaired specialists, audiologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and instructional staff. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS + In-depth knowledge of IDEA and its implementation and USBE Special Education Rules and Regulations. + Supports the recruitment, screening, interviewing, hiring, placement, and ongoing learning and development of Speech-Language Pathologist and other related service providers. + Assumes the responsibility for his/her own professional development and for keeping current with the literature, new research findings and improved delivery techniques. + Coordinates, develops and conducts professional development district wide. + Works cooperatively with schools, parents, and other stakeholders to continually improve programs. + Assists with and coordinates speech, language, hearing, and other related services across the District. + Serves as a liaison between speech-language pathologists, hearing/visual specialists, audiologists, occupational/physical therapists, interpreters, private schools, and administration. + Utah Schools for the Deaf and Blind (USDB) liaison. + Coordinates mentoring and development of certified and newly certified staff. + Coordinates the supervision of externs from various in/out of state universities. + Supports a branch of the Utah Assistive Technology Team (UATT) + Participates in child find and the IEP process. + Serves on the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) Review Committee. + Serves on district and state committees as assigned. + Ability to problem solve complex issues, well developed oral and written communications skills. + Reviews and orders materials for assessments and programs. + Serves as a liaison between the District and universities. + Completes other tasks at the direction of district administration. + Predictable and reliable attendance. + Perform other duties as assigned. During times of state or district emergency, all employees may be required to perform additional duties that are not required on a normal basis in support of educational and operational priorities. e.g. Performs general cleaning and sanitizing of work areas, provides remote assistance to students and staff, and any other reasonable duty as needed. This information may be reviewed at www.canyonsdistrict.org ADA HR Effective date: 2/17/21 Preferred Skills: + Requires a valid Professional License in the State of Utah for a Speech-Language Pathologist. + Requires a current Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) from the American Speech-Language- Hearing Association (ASHA). + Requires a minimum of three years school experience as a speech-language pathologist. + Expertise in the area of speech and language. + In-depth knowledge about IDEA. + Superb interpersonal skills. + Good verbal and written communication. + Ability to collaborate and mentor. + Growth mind set. + Strong organizational skills and the ability to attend to details. NOTE: The Administration reserves the right to require specific training for this position. However, depending upon the type and quality of prior work experience and availability of formal training programs, some exchanges can be made between training and experience. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS---Not limited to the following: + Physical ability to perform the essential functions listed above with or without reasonable accommodation. + Requires the ability to lift a minimum of ten (10) pounds. + Possess the physical, mental, and emotional stability to work under stressful conditions, including but not limited to: deadlines, contract requirements, inspection requirements, and interaction with critical personnel.
